| Pharmacological Action: | The combined use of sulfadiazine and trimethoprim has a synergistic antibacterial effect. Sulfadiazine inhibits bacterial folate synthesis to prevent bacterial reproduction; trimethoprim further enhances the antibacterial effect by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. The combination of the two can fight against a variety of bacteria, expand the antibacterial spectrum, and has a significant therapeutic effect on infections of the respiratory, urinary, digestive and other systems. |
| Precautions: | For intravenous administration the product should be warmed to body temperature and injected slowly over as long a period as is reasonably practical. At the first sign of intolerance the injection should be interrupted and shock treatment initiated. Adequate drinking water should be available during the therapeutic effect of the product. |
